Januvia 50 mg tablet is an anti-diabetic medication used for the treatment of type-II diabetes mellitus. Each film coated Januvia 50 mg tablet contains Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate equivalent to Sitagliptin 50 mg and Excipients q.s. Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors) class of medicines that lowers blood sugar levels in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Inhibition of DPP-4 by Sitagliptin slows DPP-4 mediated inactivation of incretins. Reduced inhibition of incretins, increase insulin synthesis and decrease glucagon release in a manner dependant on glucose concentrations. These effects lead to an overall increase in blood glucose control.
